The Chant of the African (pt 1)

As warriors rage toward their enemies

Africa rages against her own

Oh, Africa, you cry in the disguising pain of your ignorance!

You pretend to know it all yet searching is your biggest problem.

How I hurt when they say

‘If you want to hide anything from the black man, put it in a book’,

And yet no one stands to defend that.

We scream for freedom not to get from our oppressors.

But to kill our equals.

Enslaved to the second-class mentality while you’re bold than I know.

Short Story: This piece was written in 2020 during the Covid-19 lockdown. I was thinking about what will happen in Africa if things get out of hand, how are we going survive due to the enmity created by some people of the land because of color and resources. This piece took me 45 minutes to construct. It is a free verse that aims at portraying how free the world is but carries disorder in its
fullness.

Hope you enjoyed it. Don't forget to share and leave a comment. Goootch Ya!!!
